Let's be able to link to cached content too, just in case

Nova Spivak writes: "I would like my Weblog provider to automatically cache a copy of any page I link to, and provide the cached copy if the original page is moved or taken offline." As long as the Google cache works well enough, it makes sense for Weblog software providers to point directly to it. But I don't know if the Google cache is good enough, given the digital rights management issues surrounding Web archives. I do know things disappear from that cache, and expect more to do so in the future. But Nova has a good idea. It would be a good extension of fair use of copyright in some future copyright law -- the right to link to a cache in the event of a broken link. Market realities may dictate that it would probably require some way for premium content to be billed to the reader even if it's only in a cache. Unless you believe all content is going the way of Creative Commons -- which some certainly believe.
