Skype for Pocket PC requires Pocket PC 2003 OS
Those of you with older Pocket PCs (like the Dell Axim X5 I won at an Intel drawing last month) won't be able to run Skype for Pocket PC. That's because it requires a Pocket PC running the Pocket PC 2003 OS. I have the older Pocket PC 2002 OS, and my device can't be upgraded.

The Axim X5's most certainly can be updgraded to PocketPC 2003.

I have the same problem with my Compaq iPaq h3970 I can't run skpe. I don't know if i can upgrade it or not.

You can get older version of Skype - 1.1.0.6 it can support PPC2002 and 2000

But how? Skype only provides downloads of their most current software.

You can make a search in Google with this phase "skype for pocket pc 2002".
The first link is to www.download.com.
I have not tried yet, but it is the old version of Skype. I found it just a few minutes ago and wondering if it will work or not.

Although HP have stopped selling the WM 2003 upgrade for the iPaq h3970, it is widely available elsewhere on the net. I just upgraded one recently (see http://spaces.msn.com/lestudor/blog/cns!14B34DEBEA3E1F88!235.entry for details), though I have had litle joy making Skype work on it. Maybe I'll try the old version of Skype.

Even I am struggling to get skype installed on my Toshiba e740 which runs Pocket PC 2002. Can anyone help me find a version of skype with works for pocket pc 2002 ?
