William M. Mace: An obituary notice

The San Jose Mercury News this morning published an obituary notice for my father, WIlliam Mace, who died November 8. These notices are paid for by individuals (in this case, my brother Mike, my sister Vivian, and myself) and are not written by the news staff.

William McCally Mace, 1923-2004

My father passed away this morning after an illness. I'll have a lot more to write about him later. David Halberstam interviewed him last year for a book about the Korean War. I don't know when Halberstam's book is coming out, but it will be a huge testimonial to a man who knew the horrors of two wars (World War II and the Korean conflict) and the courage to face them. I'll forever be in my father's debt.
