First impression: JOE

As work on my books moves into a higher gear, I've just installed the open-source Java Outline Editor, or JOE, on a Windows XP box. Interestingly, my collaborator knew all about JOE already even before I mentioned I was considering it. Sharing JOE files will help the book outlines flow quickly between the two of us. It's a funny feeling not to be doing this within Office, and I'm wary about just how capable JOE will be once the project reaches book-size. But it's a promising start.
